Born from the Australian bush, Magpie Diaries are from music mecca Dashville, based in the Hunter Valley, and deliver bush-psychedelia bathed in American velour.

Led by songwriter Matt ‘Magpie’ Johnston, they are an authentic folk-rock act that permeate dreamy alternative country sounds which deliver Magpie’s beautiful lyricism and melody, full of relatable stories, that feel honest, hopeful and full of heart.

2027 sees Magpie and his band embark on the release of their third full length album: Down By The River- Volume One. A special album captured live, with no drums or amplification, just good songs and stringed instruments; a bunch of players all nestled around the kitchen table.
