Luka Bloom

Luka Bloom has been gracing our stages for more than 20 years and in 2027 we are privileged to welcome him back to the festival as part of his ‘Second Wind’ Australian tour. Luka - You Couldn't Have Come at a Better Time!

For the uninitiated, Luka Bloom one of Ireland’s most respected and enduring folk singer-songwriters. His incredibly gifted electro-acoustic guitar playing guarantees an impassioned live performance of his original, poetic and melodic songs.

Gifted a guitar at age 9, and writing songs by the tender age of 14, Bloom took to the folk circuit in the ‘70s and ‘80s before heading to the US and releasing the two breakthrough albums Riverside (1990) and The Acoustic Motorbike (1992).

With a discography that spans more than 20 albums, Bloom recently added a new body of work: A Second Wind (2025), songs written as he prepared to undergo open heart surgery, which he later returned to the hospital and performed for the doctors and nurses who had cared for him throughout his recovery.

Bloom’s concert arsenal includes both tender and dynamic original material and a surprisingly eclectic selection of other people’s work. He brings a deep sense of social justice with an uncanny ability to distil contemporary life into the pithiest and most alluring combinations of lyrics and melody lines. You can expect passion, playfulness and pause for thought: a hearty combination in any gig
