Afro Moses

Afro Moses is a Ghanaian-Australian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose high-energy fusion of African rhythms, funk, reggae, soul and percussive highlife deliver a powerful and passionate performance like none other.

Born in Ghana before making Australia home, Afro Moses caught the eye early on from Bob Marley’s tour manager, and was soon dubbed the ‘African James Brown’ for his electric stage presence.

A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, Afro Moses plays an impressive array of instruments, including traditional African percussion and melodic instruments. His musical journey has taken him from Ghana to Denmark and across the globe, sharing stages with an extraordinary line-up of artists, including Miriam Makeba, Salif Keita, Youssou N’Dour, Ziggy and Rita Marley, The Wailers and Michael Franti, as well as performing with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

His achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including being named Ghana’s Best International Music Ambassador in both 2000 and 2002, the Living Legend award at the Australian/African Awards at the Sydney Opera House in 2012, and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 Ghana Music Awards held in the UK. He also contributed to the music for Inja, a short film nominated for an Academy Award in 2003.

At an Afro Moses show you can expect passion, colour, energy, powerful messages, dancing and a sense that you've just witnessed something deeply special.

“Everything about my music is love, happiness, joy; that is all”
